You Make Life Beautiful - a 12x12 layout

Hi there and happy Thursday! Yeap, it's Thursday and weekend is just around the corner. Oh no! And the school holidays is almost over ? How fast time flies..
Today, I want to share a simple 12 x 12 layout. Here, I have used stencils, paints by Rangers, metal embellishments and flowers by Prima, crocheted motifs ( my Mom made these ), buttons, some chipboard stickers and vintage ephemeras. I have applied distress paints on the metal embellishments as well as on the flowers.
I have also used watercolour pencils (Faber Castell) and Martha Stewart paints in blue and dilute with water to create the effect below. Both ways are easy enough and gives rather a similar result.

OK folks! Gotta go now. I'll be staying for another term with Papier.

Until then, take care and keep on crafting!

See ya'.

More wonders from embossing folders

Hi there, for you who have missed the embossing product demo, I would like to share two cards made from some of the tricks shown during the session.

In the first card, I used the latest Spellbinder 3D M-Bossabilities Embossing Folder to create the deep beautiful basket weave design on this card.  I also created the metal embellishment by up-cycling the soda can.
Supplies
  • Cardstock (Browns)
  • Spellbinders 3D M-Bossabilities Basket Weave
  • Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
  • Prima Flowers (Divine Collection)
  • Twine
  • Aluminium Can

In the second card, I wanted to create something elegant and yet fun.  I used partial embossing technique to emboss the top part and bottom with the cute hearts while leaving an empty strip in the middle for the message.
The jalopy is the fuzzy cut up of the embossed image on the kitchen aluminium foil and distressed with Martha Stewart Acrylic paint.

Supplies:

  • Sizzix Texture Trades Embossing Folders 3PK - Artful Muse Set
  • Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
  • Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Black Acrylic Paint
  • Stamp
  • Embossing Powder Black Sparkle
  • Ribbons
Hope these cards give you some inspiration on using the embossing folders and recycling some household materials.

XOXO
Mee Foon

Envelope Mini Album: A Little Treat

Inspired by some YouTube videos and an article in my fave crafting magazine, I decided to try my hand at making a mini envelope album.

What is that? Well, an album made from envelopes! And of course, the plus side to this is that you can store all sorts of goodies in your mini as little treats.

You'll need a pack of envelopes (any size, but here I am using 4x9) and some hard board or chipboard for the front and back cover.
You can make as many pockets/pages as you like but make sure you consider this when choosing your binder ring. I am using a medium sized ring and only four pages but after stuffing 'goodies' into the pockets, they're filled to the brim.

Journaling cards to write your personal messages.
Fill the pockets with little treats! I chose tea and hence, the tea party 'invite' on the cover but you can put anything in that isn't bulky. It will work great for gift cards and 'ang pow' money. It will be like an exciting surprise treasure hunt for your loved one!
Supplies
  • Kaisercraft Secret Admirer Collection Doily paper (12x12)
  • Making Memories Assorted paper pack (12x12)*
  • Prima 'Divine' chipboard pieces
  • Melissa Frances teapot and cupcake plaster embellishments
  • Prima Vintage Trinkets embellishment
  • Petaloo Premier pink feathers
  • Crafty Individuals tea party invite stamp*
  • Prima En Francais journaling notecards
  • Bo Bunny Country Garden Chipboard pieces
  • Lace washi tape
  • My Minds Eye Madison Avenue paper (12x12)
  • Pack of 4x9 envelopes*
  • Cardboard for cover*
  • Pink and maroon ribbon*
*All items from Papier (while stocks last) except for items marked with asterisk.

It is our journey

We are already towards the end of the third month of the year, time flies really fast and have you guys captured and create any memories for the past 3 months? with Project Life, all that are possible!

Well, I am back again to share with you my project life spread for Week 6, 7, 8, 9 and Week 10.  May be not very details but I am sharing those week randomly.  I am very much into Project Life and I hardly scrap a normal 12 x 12 layout nowadays, everything is about Project Life.

Those who is very new and about to start involving yourself with Project Life, you might want to drop by at Papier and check out their Project Life latest promo and you can also join our weekly Project Life crop session every Saturday at 11:00 am. Their staffs and RDA are more than happy to guide you on how to start your first spread.

Furthermore, Papier has loads of new arrivals which are Project Life related and check out their latest additions from Echo Park Photo Freedom - these collection are awesome! not to mention a lot more brands are in store waiting for you.

Week 6, first page

My girl made this "Gong Xi" card for us, its written inside for Mommy & Daddy.  Precious, I don't want to throw this card and I decided to put it inside the 6x12 sleeves and it is just perfect. I asked her to colour the tittle on top, "For Mommy & Daddy"

She also made these in school, orange hanging from that yellow thread, love shape using orange paper and her little hand on that black paper. These 3 things I combined and put them in the 6x12 sleeve and typed some journal on top. A few mistakes in my journal but I just leave it as it is.  The next time your kid came back from school with her art work, I suggest you keep them - those are memories and this kind of things we should appreciate. Our kids are growing and they will never turn back to be a small baby again.

Week 7, first page. Totally in love with this Echo Park papers and it is super perfect for my Project Life. Love everything just my type of colours!

Week 7, second page. Loving those arrow/chevron and colours. I make it so simple by adding just 3 pictures and mostly black and white and my journal are stamped. Voila! I am done.

Week 8, a little bit overboard with my weekly card but loving everything on this page.  Hey!!! I created memories! so be it.

again an artwork done by my girl from school and it is nicely kept in the 6x12 sleeve. Loving the bird.

she coloured the cat, her school work that she brought home and love what she wrote "i mia zara" means:  I am Mia Zara

Week 9, first page. I used a 12x12 paper and cut them according to the sleeve sizes and can you see my attempt of typing randomly on the PL card (bottom right) and trying to form a LOVE shape which is of course not successful but I kept it anyway! Should try again next time.

A friend gave this doa and I "PLed" the doa.  Thank you!!!

Week 10, first page. I used a 12x12 paper for this page and cut them according to the sizes of the sleeves and this particular week is so bright and cheerful!

Week 10, second page.  Random bits and pieces that I used, washi tapes, tiny flat back pearls, butterfly cut from Cameo and wood veneer love shape.

All my spreads I've made using the 12 x 12 papers from a different brand and you can spot my Week 7 which I used the Echo Park papers and not forgetting some of my Project Life cards are from the Turquoise kit. Some are just bits and pieces of products such as labels, wood veneer, beads, enamel dots, ribbons, trims, tabs and etc.  I am very particular on my photo journaling and I am still very much into typing my own journal using my "vintage typewriter" this time around I used my Adler TippaS script/cursive font. How beautiful is that?

So whats your secret of keeping your memories? Do share with us and thank you for reading my post and do come back to check out on other DTs projects' and have a great weekend!

Journal with Divider Tabs

Hi there! It's Sharm here today to share with you lovely people on how I created a journal with divider tabs. Why I like using divider tabs is because I can save those memories in a more organized manner. For instance, you can have one page for photos, another for details and another purely to store bits and pieces like tickets stubs, etc.

It's a fun way to document those precious moments without having to cramp everything into a single 12x12 sheet.

Materials used:
Patterned paper: Kaisercraft Secret Admirer
Stamp: Hero Arts Script Stamp
Punch: Ek Success Border Punch
Dies: Spellbinders, Papertrey Ink, MFT

Instructions:
1) Cutout 2 pieces of cardboard & 4 pieces of cardstock to 5x6
2) Bind them together using a ring binder or any other binding method of your choice
3) Embellish cover with patterned paper, die cuts, flowers and some stamping
4) Adhere tab dividers to the edges of the pages

Me Layout

I have always been a layout person. I enjoyed creating layout more than anything else! Mini album comes second, the rest depending on my mood. lol. This month I've been creating layout more than i could share. Running out of storage space too. I wonder where shall i park all my albums? Mom's perhaps?

Here's sharing another piece. Please ignore the big number! hahaha. Yes that's my age in case you're wondering. All material used is from Prima Marketing except White Cardstock, Paper Doilies, Lace, Old Book Paper, Distress Ink and Dimensional Fabric Paint.

A lot of fussy cut and heavy layerings. This piece is displayed at Papier store. Please drop by for viewing and check out the latest arrival! Have a pleasant week. :)
