Card - You're Special

I'm smitten by a cardmaking bug...so here's another card this week. I used the last bits of the Webster's Pages papers  from my DT kit. I just love the journaling card that I can just fussy cut and use as my sentiment. Do you notice the handmade embellishment?

There's a story behind this bottle cap. I got it from the middle east, at a restaurant in the desert...Apparently they still serve soda drinks in the classic glass bottle with caps. I commanded my kids to collect as many bottle caps as they could ! I got excited and started to have visions on the ways to upcycle them. So here's one version..more to come. Hope  you like it :))

Have an awesome week !

Card with Envelobox

Happy Tuesday crafters! I taught a card making class last Saturday and had a blast. Towards the end of the class I was humming and singing away with my students. Hmm hope they dont mind Aunty Liza's pitchy voice here and there. I know  I'll get a bad review from Randy.
For today..I would like to share with you a card that I made using papers from Webster's Pages.

A bit of stitching..

And here is my favourite envelobox with a window ! I love giving surprises and creating something different than the usuals.

This envelope has a depth 1/4 inch. It's perfect for a card with raised flower or embellishments  like mine.

Have a great week ahead :)) Ciao..

Wall Deco " Mama..You're Special and I Love You"

Hi crafters ! Here's a sneak peek of a very special project that I'm working on for a very special person in my life, my mother.

My mother used to be a working mom and I remember how I wished that mom could  have a few more days off from work just to be with us. I 'love' to be having fever or flu just because I knew then that she'll be home to attend to me and all the nonsense that I created to get her attention. LOL. She's actuallly the wind beneath my wings..always telling me that of course I could do this and that. In fact she's the one who taught me sewing..when I was 10 years old. I remembered that I offered my mom's "Jade Queen -Singer " sewing machine to my BFFs and surely few needles were broken. Sorry again ..mom. As I was away from home -  boarding school + college..I missed about 9 years being with her. After college was when I got a bit more time with mom..I could recall vividly the afternoons we spent sewing together...owhh those days were so precious to me. With a cup of tea and laughs..we sewed mittens, table cloth, baju kurung and so on. Thank you mama..for believing in me and I love you mountains :))

Okay..before I get sob..sob..and turn this post into a short story...Details on this project will be out soon. Do check with Papier Store if you wish to learn to make this for that special someone in your life. We'll be learning more on metal embossing and alcohol inks. I've chosen the latest papers by Webster's  Pages..I hope you will able to make that someone special SMILE !

Layout - Mesmerising Cairo

Hi peeps,
Just a clean and simple layout from me this time. The papers from Webster's pages - Sunday Gathering explains it all. Less is more..however this is as less that I could do. LOL Believe me..my fingers were itching to splat some texture paste and medium on the LO but simplicity rules!

The picture also commands for no frills please..I just love the background showing the Great Salah ad-Din Citadel in Cairo, Egypt that was first built around 12th century..The architecture was simply breathtaking...

Have a great week ahead friends...XOX

Card - Let's Go

Hi peeps..can't wait for this weekend!
Ready for a card...a simple and clean one. This card is made using 2 basic card stocks for the background. I just adore the combination of white, ivory and light turquoise. My plate of colors :))

Melissa Frances travel tags seem perfect for this card. I superimposed it against a doily.
The gorgeous french lace fits nicely on the tag. It was a treasured gift from a friend and had been making appearances in few of my projects :))

Till then friends..KEEP CALM AND CRAFT ON. Look forward to meet you guys this weekend !
 Let's have some fun :))

Card - Missing You

I hope I'm not boring you with another card of the same theme..lol :)).  It's just that currently these are my colours.  I realised, I'm so thankful and feel so blessed to have this small corner to do my crafting. Eventhough somehow I'm only left with a "clean" 12 x 12 table surface to scrap..he he. That's what happen to my work area after each "storm". Ooops here's my take this week.

It's pretty easy to make this card . First I made the paper roses using Sizzix die - 3D  flowers. Well ..actually  I made these blooms while watching American Idol..lol. My fingers were twisting the flowers and my eyes were on on the tube..he he. That's multitasking?

Yes.. the sentiment is from the batch of metal embossing from previous week.. I have a few more and this "Missing You " seem perfect for this card. I decide not to mist my Pink Paislee's mistable muslin scallop ribbons. They are just gorgeous to be left raw and simple for cards. Lastly I used the last few Melissa Frances tags from my DT kit..just love the image of these two BFFs having a great time looking over a bird's nest on a tiny tree branch..oops watch it girl, you might fall ! This image reminds me of my childhood days lol .
Enough ramblings...have a great and blessed week ahead , toodles :))

Mini Album - MY GEMS

Happy Tuesday all...
Here's my take for this week. My children have been keeping some silly photos of themselves somewhere in their secret boxes. I found them and here is their new home..

I made this 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch album using chipboards and painted them with my favourite Martha Stewart Pearl Acrylic paints and I totally love the sweetness effect.

I designed my favourite mini shadow box on the cover to hide a precious vintage pendant / gem from Prima Marketing. Can you spot it?

I also found a 'broken' heart pendant that belongs to my eldest daughter and cut off the broken wings attached to it. Used my beacon and simply place it on my fussy cut. Sshh she is unaware...lol

There !

Some funny photos of my kids circa 2002 ...they were all in their PJs ,just wish I could JUMP then and hug them again when they were squidgy and bubbly..lol

Introducing.. my Youngest Princess who keeps on reminding me that she wants to be an architect in future. I kept telling her...maybe you can be..this..that..or just be what you want to be, as long as its enough to get you an LV lol. She replied..I just wanna be an architect mom. And don't worry I'll build you your dream house..I know..its a modest cottage surrounded by rolling hills, overlooking an oak tree that has this swing that you are crazy about kan? Owh ma..I'll remember to include a craft table and a sewing machine too??
She's a gem :))

Take care everyone..mmuuaahh

Notice the cute metal sentiment? I run my sandwich of embossing mould and metal sheet through my Big Shot-Pro and loveeee the effect. Decided to put all the metal sentiments on my ATCs to inspire you :))

Tutorial - Fab Fabric Flower

Howdy folks...ready for a tutorial ? Lets see if I can pull through alright..lol. This flower that I'm showing you how to make is my favourite. Simply because of the endless possibilities of how to use it. It can be a corsage, a sweet flower on your layout or card, a tag, a hairclip and so on..

These are the things / materials you need

Step 1
Draw 7 petals of a size you like, on an interface ( you can buy this at a tailor shop - its for thickening and strenghtening your fabric )

Step 2
Cut out the petals and place the sticky side on the wrong side of the fabric. Iron on using a mini iron or your normal iron. Caution not to burn your cute master piece!

Step3
Cut out the petals along the interface edge.

Step 4
Prepare your sewing machine and start stiching ( a few rounds )..stopping and turning the petals a few times at the curves.

Step5
Assemble your petals ...yayy almost done ! Join them with a "beacon" or fabric glue if intended for
 paper craft.

Step 6
Cut out a circle from another contrasting fabric and glue at the centre. You can also add buttons or caboochons.

Step 7
Make some more petals ..yes the more..the merrier!

Hope you find the tutorial useful ...now go scout for momma's sewing machine and start sewing :))

Layout - Write Your Own Story

Hi scrappers..this week I wish to share with you a layout that I made using canvas. This time I thought of creating my own background. I love the raw grains of the canvas and chose not to hide them behind a primer. So bye-bye to gesso..I diluted Martha Stewart paints namely " Jonquil " and "Sea Lavender" and painted on the canvas.

Can you see the canvas's grains above ? Next, I stamped randomly using my fav Studio Calicos stamp.

I love the simplicity of this LO. This is as simple as I could scrap, lol !

Yes..I still need my blooms :))

Have a blessed week ahead friends. Scrap it ! XOX

Deco - Queen Of The Kitchen

Hola crafters...
It's Tuesday..here's my take for this week..

I found this mini cupcake tin upon decluttering my kitchen cupboard ! I didn't even know I have it..lol. It shows how often I bake these days : p

The Melissa Frances Papers and chipboards from my DT kit seem perfect for this altered project. Here's how to make it. First punch the papers into circles. Glue them into the moulds of your choice. Cut a pattern paper 2 1/4 " x 10" and wrap around the tin. Next get your favourite MS puncher and punch the borders of a cardstock measuring 2" x 10". Stick it to the previous paper.

Now is the fun part....Add your favourite embellishments using a strong craft glue. Walla...very simple huh. Why not display this deco tin on your dining table while having afternoon tea with your buddies. I'm sure your master piece will spark endless fun conversation and laughter :)) Caution..you may be required to give a tutorial on how to make this while sipping tea..How cool is that !!

Owhh..this brings back memories of the wonderful afternoon teas that I used to have with my girlfriends..Each would bring a plate of warm brownies, scones, oozing chocolate cake... And I would  decorate the dining table with my latest sewn table cloth or place mat and fresh flowers  ! I know ..show off kan !! lol. The conversation was always about exchanging the hows..to raise our then only toddlers, recipes of the best cupcakes, roast chicken and even puree food for our babies etc. I miss all that...
Now I make up those fun time - in my workshop with my crafty students ! We had a blast last Saturday..what a cool bunch. For those who couldn't make it ...do call Papier to book another date okay..
Toodles...XOXO

Layout - A Small Wonder

Hellooo scrappers, it's my turn today to share with you a piece of  LO that I whipped using the  last bits of  my January DT kit. Can't wait to share with you what I created with my February kit :0

Notice the little fingers and the little chick? This cute photo was taken during our last holiday trip to Avillion. The resort comes complete with a petting zoo. How cool is that ! My kids went goo goo gaa gaa over it and they were just so funny! That's how city folks react to a whole lot of pets to cuddle and love at one time. LOL
OMG just realised ..the chick looks like its about to popped out from the LO..love that.
My first layer of the layout is my favourite pp by Webster's Pages that is the Yacht Club - Sandy Shore. Then the burlap and an envelope pocket by Amy Tangerine. Hues of earth tones are used to pickup the gorgeous colour of the chick. Not forgetting the peacock feather  ( I must clarify that I didn't pluck right  from the peacock at the petting zoo okay). I just found out that, like my 2 year old niece..I'm scared of peacocks! They were just always snobbish and angry all the time :(  Whylah??

Till next week peeps..Have a blessed week ahead..owh don't forget to pop by my Memory Vintage Workshop this Saturday at 10:30. Let's have fun and learn how to make a "book box". For those who wish to swap ATCs , please..bring them ..lotsa !! Just contact Papier to enroll okay , see ya  :)  XOX

Hey ! I would like to wish all  my Chinese friends Gong Xi Fa Chai. I'm sure everyone is enjoying every seconds of the long holiday. As for me..school holidays mean a lot of sleep-ins, less cooking and more crafting yay!! This week , I decided to make a bunch of tags that can upstyle practically any bag, tote or jounal.

This tag is embellished with some doilies and fabric petals. I planned to do a tutorial on how to make  these fabric flowers. However I need to get a tripod 1st.. I think. So stay tuned okay.

Hey try inserting them in a key chain and attach to your handbag. Not bad eh..

Materials list

Papers by My Mind's Eye and Basic Grey
Fabrics - "Tailor Made" by Cosmo cricket
Buttons and trims from my stash

That's all for now. Enjoy your holidays, dont forget to keep calm and craft on :))
