Handmade Banners for Hari Raya

With that in mind, we bring you this  little idea about making your own handmade banner. This could be adjusted to any size with some reworking and if you don’t feel confident enough in your lettering or painting abilities, you can always stencil or stamp or stitch or iron on any number of solutions. Just don’t overthink it and make it reflect your personal asthetic!

Banners like this are easy to put together when you have a Sizzix Big Shot! You’ll want to lay out your banner as you create it and keep

the following tips in mind:

Start by counting how many letters your word has. If your banner will include more than one word you’ll want to add a blank square in to separate the words.

What will you use for the base of your banner letters?
Select a shape (scallop square here) and decide if you want all of the squares to be the same color or how you will alternate different colors. Then cut and lay out all your base banner pieces.

Cut out letters in the colors of your choice and lay them out on the banner.
Do you want to back them with something to make them pop out more? A die-cut shape, a doily, a square… the possibilities are endless!

Add ribbon.
Punch holes (two on each letter piece usually works the best) and string onto a long piece of ribbon.

Embellish.
Add more ribbon pieces, punched or die-cut pieces, stamped images, buttons, brads… whatever you have that will enhance your banner.

Idea Gallery & Sharing the tips

Howdy and Happy Monday!

Ponder these questions:

What do I want the end result to be?

Why am I doing this? Who is this for?

What do I want to get out of it?

With this type of thought process, many of you will come to a place of

greater clarity about your scrapbook organization.

It might take a little time to realize whatever it is that you need to realize.

But many of you truly will have an a-ha moment. Super!

However …

Many of you will not necessarily have the light bulb moment,

but rather you will throw those questions and this blog post

to the wind and say Who cares about a system!? I just want to play!

And you know what? That’s okay too.

“Figuring out” a scrapbook system isn’t for everyone.
Sometimes it’s best to just do something. 
Start somewhere and have fun and that’s it!
But for many (myself included), there is great value in thinking
about the big picture … even if it evolves and changes a bit over time

(which is a thousand percent perfectly okay!).

So, let's check my layout...

I like to print out my own wording.

Chipboard diecut & I powdered emboss on it.

Make use on the chipboard diecut, enhance with paint & glossy accent.

PROJECT LIFE UPDATE FOR JUNE 2013

Hai Hello there Crafters and Friends, its Kk Aini again. My apologies I did not update this project life sample last friday. Please be informed that there will be a PL crop session with me at Papier Love, The Curve tomorrow from 11am to 12.30pm....

As you can see below, this time I used the Becky Higgins PL 6X6 pockets. I kind of like them coz there were more space to work with. Complementing the whole 2 spreads with BoBunny set of papers, rubons, stickers and trinkets... I had lots of fun and realized how easy it was, they just jive....Also theres a dash of cameo cuts.....the frames KISS and XOXO and the butterfly on the 1st page. 

On the 2nd page I used the same pattern paper as the background for all the 4 pockets. See what I mean by they all "jive" together.....

However you could also use another plain colored paper to underlay the stripe pattern paper I used above to separate the pockets, I just slot in the striped papers at different directions.

So.... its been a while now this PL have been in the market, I still find them easy and theres a lot more to explore....HAVE FUN and C YA.....Bye......Love KK Aini.

Map of my world

I really do love the lilybee design map paper. It made the perfect backdrop for a picture I took at Edinburgh Castle last year. It was my first trip to Europe and it was an experience I am not to forget soon. 

In my DT kit this month I found a Martha Stewart paint bottle. I love these - as a base and now as a spray mist. It's simple to make and you can customise how thick you'd like the spray to be. I wanted a thicker spray so I mixed one part paint with 4 parts water in a spray bottle along with crushed glitter eyeshadow(!). The eyeshadow replaces the perfect pearls and rather well I might add. It gave the spray a truly iridescent finish. But I also mixed it up with a Tattered Angels Mist in cocoa.
