Crafting a sushi - Winners Announcements

Hola!

We had a really great time, last Sunday, when our VIP guests showcased their talents, not only at crafting but food crafting too! It was all hats & gloves and then we got down to the real job of sushi decorating at Sakae Sushi, The Curve. Thanks to Chef Yong, we all had a great time learning to wrap our own makimono, california hand rolls, bear makimono and even made a hanasushi, which suited our theme of the day (flower power) to a tee! It was all excitement & laughter throughout.   Below are some pics in random order.

We've taken extra time to announce the winners as it was definitely one of the toughest feat we've had as the tags all came out so beautifully BUT we still had to choose a winner.  Yet, I feel as though I've not justified the amount of effort you've put in for the event, so I 've decided to throw in an extra prize for Most Beautiful Tag.  So, here goes:

Announcing the Winner of the MOST CREATIVE TAG:
   (drum roll...)
                                                       Ms Tan Mee Foon

Mee Foon won this category because of the use of copper wire to create first a necklace which doubles up as a tag with her name written on beautifully curled and die-cut flowers using Sizzix and metal sheets.  It is her creative concept us oing the die-cut tool which has won her an extra point.

Well done, Mee Foon!

and the Winner of the MOST BEAUTIFUL TAG:
 (drum roll...)
                                                       Ms Chris Lim

Chris' tag was an absolute gorgeous composition of pastels, with lots of layers and fabulous mix of pretty florals with die cuts, decorated with mica flakes, beautiful ribbons, pendant and more.  A tag that speaks for itself and can adorn any apparels to make it simply beautiful.  Therefore, I had to add this prize category.  :o)

Congratulations, Chris!

Winner of BEST DRESSED:
(more drum roll)
                                                        Ms Marina Khong

Adorned in a fabulous floral print dress, Marina wins Best Dressed for an absolute perfect match of apparel, accessories and adorned with a beautifully made tag.  Just to share a comment from an Anonymous person: "you can just feel the Springtime in her".  And I think that of course gave Marina extra points.

Congratulations Marina!

Please note: Winners are all selected based on an average aggregate from several judges and thus, minimal bias judgement from any one single person.

Having said all that, we would like to sincerely THANK all our VIPs (Very Important Papercrafter) who attended the event.  Once again, the prizes were just a mere incentive for added fun, AND to add some papercrafting element into the event.  To the winners, Congratulations, and to others, Big Thank You's for your efforts and we hope you will continue to strive for our future prizes!  And for PCM members, we look forward to have you join our Papier Elite Club Member soon for more of such exclusive privileges.

We had absolute fun and we hope you did too!

We will be calling the winners shortly to collect your prizes from Papier.

Once again, Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.

DT Challenge - Announcing the Winner

DEC Creative DT Challenge

Voters RAKs

Dec Creative DT Prize

If you have missed out the last few posts, last December we held a DT Challenge, basically just to add a 'lil fun to the usual DT submissions. The 3 DT's, Amelia, Rosa & Sharm had to create projects based on the given DT kit (+ approx 10% of own materials) to create pre-determined projects over 4 weeks. Week 1 (LO), Week 2 (card), Week 3 (Altered Project) and Week 4 (Photocube box). Blog readers as well as in-store shoppers were asked to vote for their projects over the 4 weeks and votes were totalled up 31st December 2010.

The idea of the challenge really is for allowing the DT's to show their creative best, and for our blog readers as well as in-store shoppers to also participate and give us their views as to why & what appeals to different individuals. Art as it is, is really no right or wrong nor better or worse but simply a judgement and preference of individuals. Having this challenge simply makes it a little bit more exciting, both for our DTs and for the voters as at the end of the day, there is a goal to achieve, which is DEC Creative DT Prize as seen above.

Thank you to the DTs for being so supportive & so willingly participate in the activity and to the voters for their votes through emails, blog comments as well as in-store votes.

NOW, announcing the winner of the DEC Creative DT Prize ....

**drum roll & applause**

Ms Amelia Khalik
(total of 48 votes)

Congratulations to Amelia!!
And as promised, 2 lucky voters who voted for Amelia also wins a RAK each. And the lucky winners are:

Sabrina

&
Pamela Chen (PCM001042)
Congratulations to all the winners!!
Please collect your prizes from Papier by 20th January 2011.

Great work everyone!
Create, enjoy & be free!

Photo Cube

This is the final challenge for the DT project at Papier and I must say it was mighty tough! LOL!!
Each of us were given a photo cube (yes a photo cube!!) to embellish to our heart's content! As with my all my other projects, this piece was no elaborate affair either :) Simple.. and I'm now contemplating if I should place it on my desk at the office *hehe*

Anyways..here's a 'page' by 'page' tut on how I made this cube:

First, you gotta distress the entire cube using Ranger Distress Inks

Page 1: Adhere Photo, followed by Prima flower and rolled roses (using the Sizzix 3D flowers die) and leaf. Tuck in the little assemble of flowers. Adhere some Tim Holtz tissue tape (must have!!)

Materials Used : Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Prima Flower, Leaf, Sizzix 3D Flowers Die, Cluster of flowers

Page 2 : Adhere photo and form a frame using ribbon. Next, using October Afternoon rub-ons, rub off the tree and leaf motifs onto the cube. After that, Cut out the damask like designs from the American Crafts PP for leaves and layer the Tim Holtz flower with a 3D flower Sizzix die cut. Lastly, layer prima flowers and adhere atop the 'leaves'. Finish off with a lil bit of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape

Materials Used : Pink Paislee PP, American Crafts PP, Ribbon, Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Die, Sizzix 3D Flowers Die, October Afternoon Rub Ons, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Prima Flowers.\

Page 3 : This one's a lil tricky cause I firstly needed to embellish the plain looking die cut Tim Holtz chipboard wings. I first painted it white with acrylic paints and then once dried, i adhere feathers to it for a angelic look *hehe*. While waiting for that to dry up, I adhered the photo. Then I added to the top of the wings the Prima butterfly (so gorgeous don't you think ;)). Added the cluster of flowers and finally the butterflies

Materials Used : Tim Holtz Wings die cut, Prima Butterfly, Flower cluster, Papertrey Ink Butterfly Die Cut, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Feathers.
Page 4 : Adhere Sizzix Die, photo, Add flower and American Carfts PP for leaves, Hambly Dress Form Screen Print, and Sizzix 3D flowers. Add a small bow to the top of the photo and finally finish off with a bit of tissu tape.

Materials Used : American Crafts PP, Prima Flower, Sizzix Flourish & 3D flowers die, Hambly Dress Form Screen Print, Lace, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape.

And finally, all my lil princess needs is a crown above her head! :) So here's what's on the top part of the cube, A simple crown that's painted with Ranger crackle paint!

Materials Used : Sizzix Crown Die & Ranger Crackle Paint.

Happy New Year to all of you Papier Supporters and wishing you a fab 2011!!! :)

This month of December....

Hi all,

Sorry if you've been looking forward to DT postings this week and were a lil disappointed. There are no DT postings this week as the gals have been given an exciting endeavour for Dec. It is the DT challenge. The 3 DTs, Amelia, Rosa & Shamu have been given materials as below, as well as a list of other tools/supplies which they will be (as usual) working their magic on for the DT challenge coming December. Therefore, there will be slight changes to the postings next month.

There will be 3 project postings every Monday (starting 6th Dec), of the projects and the tutorials to follow from Tuesday of the week onwards.

Here's what we NEED YOU to do... to vote for your favourite project(s) every week on the blog or in-store (votes from the blog & in-store are calculated 50:50). The DT with the most votes will win the prize of a scrapbook hamper worth more than RM300! With your wonderful support and encouragement, I believe the DTs will continue to inspire us with their beautiful creations and wonderful ideas.

This will also be the last blog activity for the year 2010, and we look forward to an exciting 2011.

Happy challenging to all our DTs!

Create, Enjoy & Be Free
