"Hi" Card

Hi hi!! I am still on vacay in a beautiful island called Gili but I have something to show you today. This will be my last project of the year for Papier. I created this card to celebrate the new year 2011 by saying "Hi". LOL!

For this card I used only the new Pink Paislee "Sweetness" collection papers. Added the tied twine at the back of the Prima flowers and lastly used American Crafts Puffy Thickers for my title. For the edges, I used brown ink then distress it using the Making Memories distresser. So simple rite? Hope your new year will be filled with happiness and lots of mojo!

Photo Cube

This is the final challenge for the DT project at Papier and I must say it was mighty tough! LOL!!
Each of us were given a photo cube (yes a photo cube!!) to embellish to our heart's content! As with my all my other projects, this piece was no elaborate affair either :) Simple.. and I'm now contemplating if I should place it on my desk at the office *hehe*

Anyways..here's a 'page' by 'page' tut on how I made this cube:

First, you gotta distress the entire cube using Ranger Distress Inks

Page 1: Adhere Photo, followed by Prima flower and rolled roses (using the Sizzix 3D flowers die) and leaf. Tuck in the little assemble of flowers. Adhere some Tim Holtz tissue tape (must have!!)

Materials Used : Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Prima Flower, Leaf, Sizzix 3D Flowers Die, Cluster of flowers

Page 2 : Adhere photo and form a frame using ribbon. Next, using October Afternoon rub-ons, rub off the tree and leaf motifs onto the cube. After that, Cut out the damask like designs from the American Crafts PP for leaves and layer the Tim Holtz flower with a 3D flower Sizzix die cut. Lastly, layer prima flowers and adhere atop the 'leaves'. Finish off with a lil bit of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape

Materials Used : Pink Paislee PP, American Crafts PP, Ribbon, Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Die, Sizzix 3D Flowers Die, October Afternoon Rub Ons, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Prima Flowers.\

Page 3 : This one's a lil tricky cause I firstly needed to embellish the plain looking die cut Tim Holtz chipboard wings. I first painted it white with acrylic paints and then once dried, i adhere feathers to it for a angelic look *hehe*. While waiting for that to dry up, I adhered the photo. Then I added to the top of the wings the Prima butterfly (so gorgeous don't you think ;)). Added the cluster of flowers and finally the butterflies

Materials Used : Tim Holtz Wings die cut, Prima Butterfly, Flower cluster, Papertrey Ink Butterfly Die Cut, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Feathers.
Page 4 : Adhere Sizzix Die, photo, Add flower and American Carfts PP for leaves, Hambly Dress Form Screen Print, and Sizzix 3D flowers. Add a small bow to the top of the photo and finally finish off with a bit of tissu tape.

Materials Used : American Crafts PP, Prima Flower, Sizzix Flourish & 3D flowers die, Hambly Dress Form Screen Print, Lace, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape.

And finally, all my lil princess needs is a crown above her head! :) So here's what's on the top part of the cube, A simple crown that's painted with Ranger crackle paint!

Materials Used : Sizzix Crown Die & Ranger Crackle Paint.

Happy New Year to all of you Papier Supporters and wishing you a fab 2011!!! :)

FUN photo cube by Rosa -Dec DT 4th Challenge

It's 'Papier's Dec DT Challenge' with a lil twist. The fourth / last challenge is a photo cube and to include / use any of the items from the list of supplies.

This is my take for the photo cube. Pictures of my kids (taken few years back) with their artwork.

I paint the edges with TH Distress Crackle Paint- Black Soot, stamped randomly on it using white inkpad, cut the pp, score it and paste it. I also put a small magnet to keep this page closed.

The inside when you open it.

1- US

2- Goofy

3- FUN together

4- Cute

For the bottom part, I used the cupboard's knob and glue it to the four corners of the cube.

I decorate the top part with flowers cut out using the TH Tattered Florals Dies.

Very simple isn't it. If you haven't done a photo cube project, you should try it out. Its fun and it can be a deco on the coffee table.

Till then, Happy crafting and wishing you HAPPY NEW YEAR!

"Love Photo Box" by Amelia Khalik

We're coming to an end of Dec and the last one for the Dt's challenge. Infact i think the Photo Box is the most interesting item in our Dec kit. There is so many possibilities and ways to decorate this box and i choose to have a christmas tree on top of it in celebration of the festive season.

I hope it's not too late to post a tutorial on my tree! lol. Let me first show you all four corners of my box. Each space is dedicated to my little family of four, Daddy and mommy is the one with the crown, my prince n princess is the angel of my heart. All dies used is from Tim Holtz. To add colours to the white background i simply misted using Tattered angel mists and covered the corners with a pattern paper.

Now on to my tree, first cut 2 piece each of 6'x6', 5'x5', 4'x4', 3'x3', 2'x2' square. When you have a square, cut it in half to get a triangle like the first picture.

You will have 4 triangle for each size, fold it in half.

Use a glue or double sided tape to adhere the sides together.

You will get this as the base.

Continue with the smaller size of triangle until you get to the last piece.

Finally you will have a tree like this one.

Material lists, American Craft 'Amplified Vogue' & 'Music Video' pp, Pink Paislee Pretty Lace pp, Glue Dots, Bohemia Embossed Chipboard, Distress Crackle Paint in Black Soot, Buttons, Tattered Angel Glimmer Glam Tutu Pink, TH Dies - Crown, Tattered Floral and Wings Angel, MS Puncher Wreath, Distress Ink, MS Border Puncher and Ice Stickles,.

Dont forget to cast your vote on the top right corner of the side bar. Happy holidays to all. See you next year! :)

Altered Flower Frame

Since the DTs are doing altering projects this week for their challenge, I was thinking why not I do one too! I bought this flower wood frame (yes, I am a hoarder!) for a while now and thought I should do something with it.

I traced and covered the frame with the latest Making Memories Christmas Noel collection. For the edges, I distressed with Rangers Tea Dye Distress ink & also used MM distresser.

Embellished it using the Making Memories die-cuts & also used Prima flower as the poinsetta centre.

For the signage, I also used the MM die-cut snowflake and Dusty Attic's chipboard. I painted the word "together" using the Rangers Crackle Paint called tattered rose.

I really liked how it turned out to be and it is Christmas theme one too. Gonna snap a photo with Mr.Handsome and also my fur-bbabies soon so I can hang it in my craft room :)

Merry Christmas & have a great New Year!!

Challenge 3 - Altered Project

Hey there peeps! :) Today I'd like to share with you'll an altered project which I made for Papier's DT Challenge 3! Christmas is around the corner, yes in two days to be exact lol! so if you wana make a fast & simple candy holder, here's a lil idea! ;)

I've altered this steel pail from Daiso to make it a candy holder..you can either hang it on your tree (yes tried and tested! :) lol..or simply place it on your coffee table..

It's very simple to make & I'll take you through the steps now:

1) Paint the entire pail with Ranger Crackle Paint (I've used tattered rose here, but you can opt for any other that fancies you! ;))
2) Leave it to dry. It's will give you a really really pretty cracked effect!
3) Heat emboss a music notes stamped image or any Christmas related stamping.
4) Adhere lace all round the pail
5) Punch out a strip of border using any Border Punch and place it behind the lace
6) Stick some pins.
7) And here comes the tricky part...I made this lil paper angel. So you too can make a lil sumthing or you can simply follow this tut.
8) Tie a mixture of tiny pieces of lace & ribbons at the ends of the handles of the pail

Materials Used : Steel Pail, Lace, Ribbons, Tim Holtz Wings Die, Circle Punch, Sequins, Crackle Paint, MS Border Punch, Maya Road Pins, Making Memories Acrylic Paint, Stickles, American Crafts Embossing Powder in Opaque White.

To make the angel:

1) Punch out a circle
2) Draw out a shaped figure
3) Die Cut Wings using the Tim Hotlz Alterations Die
4) Adhere the circle to the body shape to form the angel's head
5) Paint / Distress / Add stickles to the wings for added effect
6)Adhere to the shaped figure too ;)

* Tip 1 : You can dress up the shaped figure with sequins etc just as how I have done for mine
* Tip 2 : You can adhere a magnet at the back of the angel so you place it in any manner you like on the pail.

Nice? I hope you like what you see and it gives you some ideas for Christmas ;) Here's Wishing you ladies a Merry Merry Christmas!!! :)

Altered Project by Rosa -Dec DT 3rd Challenge

It's 'Papier's Dec DT Challenge' with a lil twist. The third challenge is an altered project and to include / use any of the items from the list of supplies.

I love to recycle, in fact I try to recycle whatever and whenever I can. Do you remember my altered cereal box mini album? You can read about it HERE.

For Papier's Dec DT third challenge, with same concept in mind, RECYCLE!

I used the top part of a PIZZA BOX.

This is what I created with the Pizza Box. It's a wall hanging deco. Love to CREATE, ART, always, imagine, dream.

Cover it with gesso. Once dry, paint it with TA Glimmer Mist, leave it aside to dry. Then lightly apply another colour of TA Glimmer Mist -lightly & randomly. This will give you a nice 'marble' effect.

I used the TA Regal Classic Accents Stamp to add some patterns to the background. Tear some pp and paste it randomly onto the box.

For the TH Tattered Florals, I mist it with TA Glimmer Mist, jazz it up with Stickles and layer them together.

I used distress ink to colour the 'CREATE' chipboard.

I cut out the pp and layer them using foam dots.

I raised the alphabet A, R, & T, so it becomes CREATE ART.

That's my take for the Papier's Dec DT third challenge. Thanks for looking and don't forget to RECYCLE whatever you can.

Note: Don't forget to vote for your choice of DT at Papier's blog. To vote, go to the top page of the right column.

'Altered Journal' By Amelia Khalik

This week is quite interesting, the DT's has been assigned an altered project using the Dec Kit. When i first started scrapping i was so into Altered Journal that i even sell them to friends and at open bazaar. It seems i made lots and plenty of them every week, not until i found my interest diverted to layout! lol. Now i only make them on a demand basis.

So for this week i decided that i should dedicate my altered project to doing a journal. Let me go through this simple process with you. I bought the note book from a local bookstore. I decided to go for black because one it is my fav colour, two i wanted to used a pattern paper for the front cover hence a dark background will look less busy.

I prep the base by slapping a thin layer of gesso. Layered doilies for the background, add die cut, butterflies, blings and stick pins. Prima packaging are versatile, i die cut a flower from Tattered Floral dies n added it to the cover of the journal. Extra pockets on the inside of the journal to store extra tags/bookmark. Rub ons are a great addition to the tags, it adds an interesting look to a rather plain pattern paper. Have u tried misting your seams? I did mine in a light pink shades. A cheap way to replace ribbons and the best part is you can have it in any colour you wish! How cool is that?

So there you have it. A simple step of my Altered Journal. Do drop by tomorrow for another Altered project from the dt's. Have fun exploring. :))

Material Lists, Pink Paislee pp, American Craft pp, Making Memories pp, Doilies,, Tim Holtz Dies Decorative Accents, TH Dies Tattered Floral, Prima Packaging, AC Thickers, Pin, Ice Stickles, Crackle Accents, Ribbon, MS Puncher, October Afternoon Rub Ons and Trimmings.
