Introducing Project Life Dt - Norhaini

Introducing Kak Aini.

Hello fellow crafters…

I am Norhaini (loved to be called Kak Aini), have loved paper crafting since schooldays, unfortunately there was no scrapbook store then. I had to gather my embellishments from my mom’s old (and new) magazines to decorate my poems and to make cards (still can remember her naggings).

For the past 20 years, jumping from flower making to quilting and now paper crafting, I have never run out of adrenaline in this wonderful world of craft. Started as a walk-in customer to Papier, later a VIP member and now being appointed as a Project Life DT, these three years have been an exciting and pleasurable journey.

These crafting projects, therapeutic as claimed and I concur the statement, has given me the joy to keep on learning and creating projects either to give away or simply just to keep and admire over and over again. Sharing the knowledge acquired is the ultimate satisfaction. May we learn from each other. Happy crafting everyone!

We'd like to say 'Welcome onboard kak aini!'. Stay tune for more inspirations from her.

Altered Cigar Box

A crafter friend, Maryam gave me a dozen of cigar box a day ago. I am beaming with smiles and inspired to alter a few. For a start i reserves 6 boxes for my Project Life embellishment. The rest i plan to alter bit by bit.

This is the first box that i did tonight. First i painted the whole box with white  acrylic paint. Then i misted and distress the edges, after drying i add stamps. Quite easy actually.

For the top cover however it took a longer drying time. First i pile up the embellishment. I used beacon for glue and claudine hellmuth studio medium gloss on all sides of the metal embellishment. Finally i spray mists, add a gold metallic paint on top and add stamping on few corners.

Hope you're inspired to try a bit of mixed media. I'm sure there's plenty of boxes waiting to be altered. Have a good week. :)

Project Life - AK

This would be my first posting for PL 2013. This year I've decided to use Becky Higgins Mini Album Rain kit instead of the 12x12 binder. I have fear of not completing my project. Well, actually that happens to me last year. The clementine album is sitting nicely in my drawer because i abandon it half way.

I decided to do my PL based on month with no specific theme in mind. I would just print photos of a certain important things that happens that month. I like to be flexible in doing my PL and yes it's gonna be a challenge for me. As such at Papier we decided to do a weekly crop session. At any time you find yourself stuck in between or lack of drive come and join us. Date and time will be posted on this blog.

January Crop Session:

12th & 19th Jan 2013 - 11.00 am -12.30pm
Venue - Papier Scrapbook Store, The Curve
Fees - RM15.00
Things to bring - Your PL Kit and your own glue, scissors, embellishment etc

Here's my kit and i managed to complete my first page last week. A lot more room for improvement. I am terrible at journalling. Perhaps someone can help me solve that problem! lol. Will share with you more next week. Take care!

Scraproom View - AK

Hi all, Happy Monday! Brand new day, brand new week. I've promised myself to share a lot more with you blog readers come 2013. Apart from the usual scrapbooking inspirations I'd also like do a little different this year. For a start I'm sharing my scrapping space.

My little hideout from the outside world where most times I'm in my own world of imagination and happiness. It's like my own candy store and happy place. I could never be anything but happy in here. Somehow the moment i step in this small room nothing could make me feel less than inspiring. Even my kids knows their boundaries and they know the moment mommy is lock in that room it's a definite no entry! lol, but i love my kids and i love to hear them play while i scrap so i would leave the sliding door open on good days when they behave.

This room was built last year, before i had a small corner in the master bed room but after a while with me having more stash by the day it's really taking up space hence dear hubby decided to build an extension to our existing house. I have always dream of a white scraproom and a large island table, hanging chandelier and large mirror. He made my dreams come through. It was by far the best present ever!

So this is where i pour my heart and soul in my creative journey. I would spend hours and still not getting enough of it. My mom always makes fun of me and she keeps on saying to my little girl that one day she'll inherits the room with all my scrap and papers! lol.

If you like to share your creative space please Email me your pictures. I'd be happy to showcase your room.

Have a good week! :)

CAS Layout: You are a Winner

I can't believe it's the second week of January 2013 already! Gosh, how time does fly.

My first project as a DT member is a clean and simple layout using the Jan DT kit. I actually admit it was the first time I've used hat pins in a project! When I received it in my kit, I quickly researched its uses but soon made up my own way. It was a quick layout done in less than an hour!

I love how the Martha Stewart lattice punch (or any MS punch!) helps to jazz up simple basic coloured cardstock for use as embellishment. It's a great trick when you're stuck for embellishment options at home as I usually find myself.

The products used are:
- Patterned paper from: Webster's Pages, Nantucket by Pink Paisley, and AC basic coloured card (9901k)
- Petaloo beaded pins in Aqua
- Patterned yellow washi tape
- Distressed stickles in Rock Candy
- Flowers cut from patterned transparency paper
- Glossy accents (lining sides of banners)
- Webster's Pages mini messages

Have a great start to the week!

Papier Design Team Jan - Mar 2013

Introducing our line up of Dt's for Jan-Mar 2013. Please welcome:

Aznida Razali

Hello peeps! Nida here and this is my 5th term with Papier as DT. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Papier especially Macy and RDA Amelia for still having me on board. Thanks!

I  started doing craft works since early schooling days. I don't have a real defined style. However, I do have my eyes on anything grunge, vintage, old, with lots of paints and inks on it. For me, there's no right of wrong about doing art. It all depends on your interpretation. Photography is another way for me to progress in my art as I always include them in my work. This year, I'm venturing into a new way of scrapbooking ( and less daunting!) that is the Project Life; hence photography becomes an absolute necessity!

I have a full time job with a local engineering consultant company. Crafting is another way for me to relief work related stress..lol! So, if you are like me and in need of something relaxing and less stressful activity; come join us here at Papier for the upcoming classes, demos and many more in this year 2013. Most importantly, come and get your craft supplies here at the store and you will be spoilt for choice!

See ya' . Thanks for stopping by!

Diana Chai

Hello, lovely fellow papercrafters! I am Diana Chai: a confirmed craft-a-holic. I discovered cardmaking and scrapping just two years ago and have been addicted ever since! It all began with some red rubber stamps from Etsy and my life was never the same again (chuckle)!

Cardmaking and scrapbooking have become a large part of my existence and is a therapeutic retreat from my busy work schedule. I've only begun proper scrapbook layouts this year and consider myself a newbie at this wonderful hobby.

I am a vintage girl at heart and love everything distressed, vintage and shabby chic but have often found myself straying towards the cutesy and colourful once in awhile. Please feel free to take a gander at some of my creations at http://www.dianachai-crafts.blogspot.com. Much Love.

Sharmandeswari Nidyanandan

Hello there! I’m Sharm I started papercrafting end 2009 after I had my first princess... Gift wrap papers you find at book stores were one of my first-est supplies until, I chanced upon a LSS (which is none other than Papier LOL..and the rest as we say, was history! :) I soon found myself joining challenges, attending crop parties and workshops AND becoming a hoarder! ;) I also began to realise that I had to deal with the reality of having been bitten by the scrapping bug! Contagious one it is too! :)

Beginners projects for me were basically punch art makes after which, I moved on to layouts, minis and altered projects using more defined scrapbooking products. My all time favorite is altered projects as I love transforming something plain into a more attractive piece.Scrapping supplies I cant live without are my cutterbee scissors and cuttlebug machine. I love all things handmade (truly, madly, deeply) and occasionally dabble with jewelry making and baking. I currently design for Heartfelt Creations & The PaperHaus Magazine. On the home front, my happy pill are my two fairies, my ever encouraging parents, sister and hubs. They are the reason I scrap.

Thank you once again for the opportunity, It's an honor! :)

Tan Mee Foon

I started to immerse myself in the wonderful world of art back in late 2011.  It was a major transition from the international IT corporate arena (which was a great blessing since it paid for my collection of tools, paint, ink ,paper, etc.) to something unfamiliar but which felt so right.

At this point, I am exploring various aspects of this art world.  I am very much drawn to those amazing 3-D projects especially those involved pop-up or moving mechanisms.  The more challenging the project, the more I am immersed in it where time stood still.  There were multiple occasions where I would work on my projects from dusk to dawn (during my creative mode) only to realize it when my cats started to complain about their late breakfast.  I love pattern papers that have strong and saturated colours both in vintage and clean simple modern styles.

My hope is that my work can provide you with some information as well as inspire you as much as all those who have generously shared their amazing masterpieces on the internet.

A big cheer's to our awesome team of Dt's. They will bring more inspirations and deliver creative projects to you. We have a line up of interesting activity for 2013. We will keep you posted! Meanwhile check this space out often. Have a great day peeps!
