12 x 12 layout background using paints

Hello there! Happy Thursday! I'm back again with a 12 x 12 layout entitled Live in the Moment. The theme for this is layout is paints. Yes, I have used lots of paints on this layout. I started off this page with a white blank sheet. I have used gesso and Martha Stewart paints ( available at the store ) and applied throughout.

The rest is add on your photo, embellies, stamping with an archival ink, distress on stencil and doodling here and there. I can't help not to doodle..lol!

Help yourself to the myriad of paints available at the store now. In fact, we'll be having a demo on paints next month and I'll show you how we can play with paints on stencil, stamps or anything else we can get our hands on ( or even our own hands?! ) ..lol!

see you next time!

Project Life, Week 1

I totally forget to blog last week and here I am, we are at the end of the last week of January 2013 and we are going to enter the month of love - February.  Time flies, today I am sharing with you my Project Life for Week 1:  1st January - 7th January 2013.

 1st page

2nd page
(I have a secret notes which I typed and put it in the glassline envelope, embellished with a circle doily and green/yellow twines)

3rd page

I used a mixture of patterned papers, card stock and also the Project Life Turquoise Core Kit Edition.  I used some twines, rick rack, washi tapes, some stamping, a little bit of sewing and bits of embellishments here and there.  My journaling is typed using my vintage typewriter, I love it because it is so neat and the font is excellent.  I enjoyed documenting the everyday events and these memories will forever be cherished and thanks to Becky Higgins.

Have you started your Project Life? Lets join our weekly crop session at Papier and ask them how to start and we will guide you on how to do this, it is so easy as ABC, trust me. If you can't commit to do the big version of Project Life (12 x 12 binder) go for the mini Project Life.

Chinese New Year Pop-up Card

With the upcoming Chinese New Year, I decided to make a pop-up card but with a slight twist to the traditional red and gold colours.  Instead of using red, I incorporated apricot pink in my card and tone down the gold with cream colour.  This is my take to the "shabby chic" Chinese New Year card while incorporating the festive symbolic elements.

The golden word "Fook" (luck) in front of the card is cut using 2 mm chipboard to allow it to stand out in the light colour background.  I am able to achieve this effect thanks to my Big Shot Pro machine with my custom made die.  Big Shot Pro is something for you to consider in your next shopping list if you are one of those who love chipboard die cuts and have plenty of ideas.

A fan swings open when the card is opened.  I fuzzy cut some cherry blossom flowers and also the bird stamp from the beautiful Graphic 45 Bird Song collection.

Supplies Used:
  • Graphic 45 Bird Song Collection paper
  • Cream and Apricot Pearl paper
  • 2 mm Chipboard
  • BIG SHOT Pro and custom made die
  • Spellbinders Majestic Elements "Marvellous Square"
  • Martha Stewart "Modern Garland" edge and corner punches
  • McGill 1/16" Round punch
  • Ranger Distress Ink "Tattered Rose"
  • Martha Stewart Gold Acrylic Paint
  • Glossy Accents
  • Super strong double sided tape
  • Rhinestones and other embellishments

Hope this give you some inspirations for your Chinese New Year card.   Thank for stopping by and have a wonderful Chinese New Year celebration and good holiday.

Hello...   HAPPY 2013 to everyone.  Isn't it wonderful that Spring is coming.  I guess not much of difference here in Malaysia except maybe slightly drier than December (LOL...)  What a beautiful time for wedding....

When I saw this beautiful Webster’s Pages paper in my Design Team kit, I immediately called my friend for some wedding photos.  But when the photo came, I realized I had an "interesting" task ahead of me.  The photos were taken back in 2002 and most of the dresses were dated to that “period”.  After flipping through photos, I decided to crop a few photo with the bride’s face only - perfectly fitting for her timeless beauty.  Here is my take of the “2013” version of their wedding.

Supplies
  • Webster’s Pages Best Friends Collection “This day with you”
  • Pink Paislee Nantucket Collection “Jumbo Shrimp”
  • Cheery Lynn Designs “Sophia Heart”
  • Spellbinders “Fleur De Lis Rectangles”

  • Ranger Distress Ink “tattered Rose”

Layout: You Check Out

I love the 'best friend list' from Webster's Pages patterned paper. It truly describes everything a best friend should be. Unfortunately for me my best friend moved to Scotland and I only see him at best once a year although amazing technology helps us keep in touch almost every day. But those 'once a year' outings have become the times I treasure most where we pick up where we left off. This layout is, as you can tell, very personal to me.

It uses what I have left of January's DT kit and a new patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found (Madison Avenue). The lace, twine and seashells actually come from a nearby sewing shop. Its really amazing how many bits and bobs you can get just by trawling your local haberdashery.

Happy Scrapping. :-)

Hello crafters,

Greetings from breezy Anaheim, CA.  We just attended the Winter CHA'13 at the Anaheim Convention Center.  Just sharing an overview and some of the many pictures we took during the 4 days of CHAW'13.  Well four days of the show really wasnt quite enough for us to cover all the 1000+ booths on display.  Nonetheless, we managed to visit all those we wanted to and have some make-n-takes to show you when we return :o).

How happy I was to meet some of the Scrapbooking Personalities in real life.  I had the chance to see Tim Holtz, Wendy Vecchi, Heidi Swapp, Janine Koczwara, Anna Dabrowska (Finabair) to name a few working on some brilliant projects and make-n-takes.  Of course, I got my hands busy too.

In my view, the upcoming trend for the year remains Vintage-chic but with more colours.  The trend is going towards pastels & sweet colours yet the classics remain an important part of our crafting supplies.  Die cuts and stamps are increasing in popularity and many brands have created their very own range.  Fiskars will be introducing a very cool brand new die-cut/letterpress tool, and our very favourite Big Shot will have a new sister, a makeover with extended platforms.  Tim Holtz Idealogy's new distress paints are a definite must have.  I'm serious!!  You don't realise how absolutely cool these are.  I was so awed by it I ordered the whole 24 colours!!  I haven't been one who's very good with mixed media but I definitely want to have this whole range.  Of course, there's the new spray mists by Dylusions and others....  Won't reveal all, cos you'll definitely fall in love when you see the things in store.

Well, look forward to some beautiful collections & brand new tools arriving at Papier soon from Cheery Lynn Designs, Prima Marketing, Bella Blvd, Echo Park Papers, Lily Bee Designs and more in the next few months.  Boy!  Am I excited!

Okay, here's some pictures you're probably dying to view, and I'll have some more in-store soon.  Also to share some good news is that we will host a new products preview for VIP members once the products arrive, so check back for dates or wait for our calls.  Product catalogues will be available for viewing soon :o)  Will keep you informed.

It has been an exhausting trip but I do not go home in vain as I have seen, learnt & done much during my 10 days here!  Anaheim really is a beautiful place to visit :o).  Hope to be able to return again soon.

Happy crafting folks!  Till we meet again....

Macy :o)

oh no!  The line seems pretty slow today, somehow the pics cant load.  I'll try again otherwise will be posting when I return home.

In the four days of the convention, we had fun just taking lots and lots of photos (to be shared with you later), of new products, samples & evn just the displays.  I colleced lots of brochures so that I can bring those home to share with you and non to mention ordering (and almost couldn't stop myself) everything that I thought you would love as much as I do.  The CHA covers not only papercrafting but everything craft including knitting, ribbonry,

Project Life : A trip to Obidos, Portugal

Hi peeps, I am so glad to share with you my simple take at Project Life this week. I love Project Life coz it just gives me the chance to document my life, travels and moments that are significant and beautiful that I had enjoyed, in a quick and effortless manner.

For this page, I had worked on my recent trip to Portugal, to a historic and romantic medieval village in Obidos, in particular Obidos Castle. Awesome day and lovely place to visit.

I had started with the printed Obidos travel pics with this lovely Seafoam and a mix of a page from Turquoise kits. Love the subtle lovely colours they add and complements the photos, just perfect for the lovely sunny day at Obidos.

There are many ways to personalise the page and I feel there is never a wrong way to do our pages. I always go with how I feel about that particular moment  and the things that I love the place that I am visiting, with a short journaling and embellishments of bits that enhance the mood of the pictures. :)

For these two pages, I had used quick and fuss free embellishments i.e. the sticky alphabets, stickers, washi tapes and chipboard buttons and bits of journaling to document these moments.

Isn't it just wonderful to be able to document my life and these memories :), have you started yours?

If you would love to start on Project Life and do not know how to begin, just come by and play with us every Saturday 11am - 1230pm at Papier. Loads of fun in sharing, learning and creating by Project Life supporters and newbies :). To book a spot, contact Papier Love for more information.

Have a fabulous weekend and fun time capturing your weekend moments with your loved ones.. for the wonderments come unexpectedly and they touch your heart and color your life..

Hugsxx Annie

True Friend - a work on journal cover

Hi there! Happy Thursday! I think it's not too late to wish all of you Happy New Year 2013! Wow...we are finally in the year of 2013 despite all the doomsday predictions on 21/12/12! But did you notice how clear the weather was that night of 21/12/12? On my part of the sky, I could see hundreds, maybe thousands of glitterings stars! Amazing!! Well, anyway, am not going to talk about the stars and the moons here. Lol! You'll find me on another blog for that! Haha!

This is my work using the January DT kit from Papier. I have been working on a cover for a mini journal. The journal costs me only RM5 from Daiso and it's totally plain and simple and just the way I like it. The paper that I have used here is from Webster's Pages Best Friends. I have cut-out those balloons and made the strings using twines. The feathers are also part of the DT kit and I have used it here with the green leaves. The flower resin are also from Webster's Pages and it's available at the store plus with other colours too. Add a lil' bit of dimensional pearl paints and glitters, completes the cover for me to start the first chapter in my mini journal. ;)

A word sticker by Webster's Pages ( also from the kit) that says ' A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart'. How sweet is that...?

See you again next time! Thanks for stopping by!

Introducing Project Life Dt - Norhaini

Introducing Kak Aini.

Hello fellow crafters…

I am Norhaini (loved to be called Kak Aini), have loved paper crafting since schooldays, unfortunately there was no scrapbook store then. I had to gather my embellishments from my mom’s old (and new) magazines to decorate my poems and to make cards (still can remember her naggings).

For the past 20 years, jumping from flower making to quilting and now paper crafting, I have never run out of adrenaline in this wonderful world of craft. Started as a walk-in customer to Papier, later a VIP member and now being appointed as a Project Life DT, these three years have been an exciting and pleasurable journey.

These crafting projects, therapeutic as claimed and I concur the statement, has given me the joy to keep on learning and creating projects either to give away or simply just to keep and admire over and over again. Sharing the knowledge acquired is the ultimate satisfaction. May we learn from each other. Happy crafting everyone!

We'd like to say 'Welcome onboard kak aini!'. Stay tune for more inspirations from her.

Altered Cigar Box

A crafter friend, Maryam gave me a dozen of cigar box a day ago. I am beaming with smiles and inspired to alter a few. For a start i reserves 6 boxes for my Project Life embellishment. The rest i plan to alter bit by bit.

This is the first box that i did tonight. First i painted the whole box with white  acrylic paint. Then i misted and distress the edges, after drying i add stamps. Quite easy actually.

For the top cover however it took a longer drying time. First i pile up the embellishment. I used beacon for glue and claudine hellmuth studio medium gloss on all sides of the metal embellishment. Finally i spray mists, add a gold metallic paint on top and add stamping on few corners.

Hope you're inspired to try a bit of mixed media. I'm sure there's plenty of boxes waiting to be altered. Have a good week. :)

Project Life - AK

This would be my first posting for PL 2013. This year I've decided to use Becky Higgins Mini Album Rain kit instead of the 12x12 binder. I have fear of not completing my project. Well, actually that happens to me last year. The clementine album is sitting nicely in my drawer because i abandon it half way.

I decided to do my PL based on month with no specific theme in mind. I would just print photos of a certain important things that happens that month. I like to be flexible in doing my PL and yes it's gonna be a challenge for me. As such at Papier we decided to do a weekly crop session. At any time you find yourself stuck in between or lack of drive come and join us. Date and time will be posted on this blog.

January Crop Session:

12th & 19th Jan 2013 - 11.00 am -12.30pm
Venue - Papier Scrapbook Store, The Curve
Fees - RM15.00
Things to bring - Your PL Kit and your own glue, scissors, embellishment etc

Here's my kit and i managed to complete my first page last week. A lot more room for improvement. I am terrible at journalling. Perhaps someone can help me solve that problem! lol. Will share with you more next week. Take care!

Scraproom View - AK

Hi all, Happy Monday! Brand new day, brand new week. I've promised myself to share a lot more with you blog readers come 2013. Apart from the usual scrapbooking inspirations I'd also like do a little different this year. For a start I'm sharing my scrapping space.

My little hideout from the outside world where most times I'm in my own world of imagination and happiness. It's like my own candy store and happy place. I could never be anything but happy in here. Somehow the moment i step in this small room nothing could make me feel less than inspiring. Even my kids knows their boundaries and they know the moment mommy is lock in that room it's a definite no entry! lol, but i love my kids and i love to hear them play while i scrap so i would leave the sliding door open on good days when they behave.

This room was built last year, before i had a small corner in the master bed room but after a while with me having more stash by the day it's really taking up space hence dear hubby decided to build an extension to our existing house. I have always dream of a white scraproom and a large island table, hanging chandelier and large mirror. He made my dreams come through. It was by far the best present ever!

So this is where i pour my heart and soul in my creative journey. I would spend hours and still not getting enough of it. My mom always makes fun of me and she keeps on saying to my little girl that one day she'll inherits the room with all my scrap and papers! lol.

If you like to share your creative space please Email me your pictures. I'd be happy to showcase your room.

Have a good week! :)

CAS Layout: You are a Winner

I can't believe it's the second week of January 2013 already! Gosh, how time does fly.

My first project as a DT member is a clean and simple layout using the Jan DT kit. I actually admit it was the first time I've used hat pins in a project! When I received it in my kit, I quickly researched its uses but soon made up my own way. It was a quick layout done in less than an hour!

I love how the Martha Stewart lattice punch (or any MS punch!) helps to jazz up simple basic coloured cardstock for use as embellishment. It's a great trick when you're stuck for embellishment options at home as I usually find myself.

The products used are:
- Patterned paper from: Webster's Pages, Nantucket by Pink Paisley, and AC basic coloured card (9901k)
- Petaloo beaded pins in Aqua
- Patterned yellow washi tape
- Distressed stickles in Rock Candy
- Flowers cut from patterned transparency paper
- Glossy accents (lining sides of banners)
- Webster's Pages mini messages

Have a great start to the week!
